The Galápagos Islands lie about a thousand kilometres off the coast of Ecuador, and their animals have never learned to be afraid. Sea lions sleep on the landing steps, marine iguanas warm themselves on black lava, and turtles drift past as you snorkel.
A small yacht of your own, with its own crew and a licensed naturalist, moves between islands by night, so each morning begins somewhere new.
When to go
The islands are good all year. December to May brings warmer water, calmer seas and greener islands. June to November is cooler, with richer sea life and nesting seabirds.
How we would plan it
The national park sets every yacht's route in advance, so we choose the itinerary for the islands you most want to see, not just the boat, and check the naturalist's experience and the cabin layout before recommending one.
We add a night in Quito or Guayaquil before flying out to the islands, and for those who prefer land, a lodge on Santa Cruz with day trips by boat.

Can we charter a private yacht in the Galápagos?
Yes. Families and groups can charter a whole yacht with its own crew and naturalist. Routes are set by the national park, and we plan around them.
How do we get to the Galápagos?
Fly to Quito or Guayaquil in Ecuador, then take a domestic flight to Baltra or San Cristóbal.
Is the Galápagos suitable for children?
Yes, and it is one of the best places in the world to see wildlife up close. Many yachts welcome children, and snorkelling can be as gentle as wading from a beach.
Do we need to be strong swimmers?
No. Most landings are walks, and snorkelling is optional, with guides in the water.
